The list of shortlisted participants will be announced on 4th November, 2019.
This Round will not consist of conventional test papers.
The semi-finals will be held on 16th November, 2019, at the Community Hall, Sai Ying Pun Community Complex, 2 High Street, Sai Ying Pun. After the round starts, participants will be given a question, and they must figure out how to solve the questions in a creative and logical way.
After 10 minutes, participants will present their solutions for the judges. The judges will then rate their performances based on their Creativity, Logic, Presentation Skills and Problem-solving Skills. The top 8 participants will be selected into the Final.
The Final will be held on 4th January, 2020, at the TKO Gate Mall (Main Stage) near Hang Hau MTR Station. Questions will be delivered to participants on the day, and the competition will be carried out in a structure similar to the Semi-finals.
On the same day, judges will select the Champion, 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up. A prize-giving ceremony will then be held, and winners are given the chance to represent Hong Kong and participate in the International Math Battle Grand Final in Canada, where they will compete against participants from other countries and further nurture their innovative talents. The champion of each category will also get $2000 sponsorship fee for the air-tickets (receipt required).
